about

each verse is a dream I had, all of them the most beautiful dreams I have had and I woke up with the sense of Heaven.

The first verse is about my grandfather. The dream is my anticipation at seeing him again, seeing his smiling face, though he passed away almost a decade ago. We never knew each other very well but I wish I had the chance because I think I might be most similar to him. In the dream, there was no anxiety, no concern, no posturing, none of the social navigational issues I normally have; it was all peace, anticipation, and comfort.

The second was a dream I had shortly after my young 23 year old cousin, Kristina, passed away. In it, my extended family and I were in a surreal landscape of gentle rolling hills, all bright and green with a sense of infinite. Yes, a giant pendulum was swinging across the entirety of the scene and although it could be considered extremely dangerous to be constantly avoiding the rhythm of this massive sharp metal weight, it was a welcome presence. We were all holding golden balloons and Kristina was there although only I could see her. She told me to tell her parents she was alright. Her parents were preoccupied with a newborn, I don't know who the baby was, and I could see their crinkly smiling eyes as they cooed and caressed the infant. Everything was ok.

The third was a vision of a half-timbered house being built in the green valley between snowy mountains. I remember only a few things: that it was my house, that everyone I had every known was hammering and climbing and building, that it had two kitchens, no roof yet, and when we all sat down in an impossibly large dining hall to break for a meal, I passed through, greeting everyone with that same peace and comfort I feel in all my dreams of heaven.
